The Oklahoma Sooners secured a dominant victory over No.7 Alabama in Week 13. Despite a disappointing 6-5 (2-5 SEC Conference) season, Brent Venables' team showcased their potential after a 24-3 thrashing of the Crimson Tide.

This victory against Kalen DeBoer's team helps Oklahoma secure Bowl game eligibility in their third campaign under Brent Venables. Fans were overjoyed by the domination over their SEC rivals at OU Memorial Stadium.

Initially, fans stormed the field 28 seconds too early in the fourth quarter. After the final whistle, the Sooners' fanbase did not waste any time in celebrating this historic victory. They stormed the field again with a thunderous roar of excitement to enjoy a winning senior night.

With this victory, Venables' team handed the Crimson Tide their third loss of the season. This is the first time since 2010 that Alabama has lost more than two games in a season. They are also eliminated from the SEC conference title race with their playoff hopes hanging by a thread.

Alabama took an early lead in the first quarter after Graham Nicholson scored a 22-yard field goal. That was the only time DeBoer's team found themselves on the scoreboard.

Oklahoma RB Xavier Robinson scored two touchdowns while Zach Schmit scored a 29-yard FG and Kip Lewis scored a 49-yard interception TD to give their team the victory.

Brent Venables heaps praise on his players after Oklahoma's victory

After the game ended, Brent Venables praised his players for their commendable performance at home. He talked about how his team was motivated despite their rivals taking the early lead.

"They were absolutely amazing," Venables said. "I told them winning never negotiates. We finally did the things that winning requires.... how well they complimented each other, these guys they are amazing. Their guts and their toughness. They punched first, they punched back. And tonight we punched last."

Venables also praised the Sooners' defense for holding back Alabama and minimizing their chances of creating offensive plays.

"Our defensive staff were just fantastic. They had a wonderful gameplan... All the credits goes to the players.... They fought with so much purpose tonight and just belief in and finally wiggled themselves to a win."

The Oklahoma Sooners are scheduled to finish their regular season campaign with a showdown against the LSU Tigers next week. It will be interesting to see if Venables can end this season with a win against another tough SEC rival.
