Josh Heupel continues to have hope for Tennessee's growth as a program in the future
In the post-game press conference, the media questioned Josh Heupel about the program's growth after he took over in 2021. He started by commending Ohio State as a great football program.
Heupel then said everyone in the program will have to work hard for the success they want in the future. He acknowledged that they were lackluster against Ohio State but they will continue to progress as a team.
"Well, we've got to play better," Heupel said. "We've got to coach better. Ohio State is a good football team. Tonight wasn't one of our best performances this year, and so at the end of the day we've got to continue to grow."
We'll start again and start retooling, rebuilding, and grow as a football team. Two years ago, I don't know, we finished sixth in the country. There's a standard inside of our building, and we're going to continue to grow."
The Tennessee Volunteers will be going back to the drawing room to start preparing for the upcoming season. On the other hand, Ohio State will look to end Oregon's undefeated winning streak in the playoff quarterfinals.
