Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns had a dream debut in the SEC this season. However, they could not put the finishing touches of success to their campaign as the Longhorns succumbed to a 22-19 OT loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC title game on Saturday.
Sarkisian and his team had a three-point lead at the end of the first half (6-3). However, Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs persevered and had a better outcome in the second half. A Peyton Woodring 21-yard field goal in the fourth quarter almost sealed the victory for Georgia. Fortunately, Bert Auburn replied with a 37-yard field goal of his own for Texas to take the game to overtime.
Auburn scored another FG in the first OT to give the Longhorns the lead. Unfortunately, Georgia RB Trevor Etienne put the final nail in the coffin for Texas with his 4-yard rushing touchdown to help the Bulldogs lift the SEC trophy.
After the game, fans took to social media to troll and make memes about Texas and their loss in the conference title game. Here are the top 10 memes taking the internet by storm:

With this victory, the Georgia Bulldogs have secured a first-round bye in this season's 12-team playoff. They lost QB Carson Beck to an injury during the game. However, redshirt sophomore Gunner Stockton stepped up big time in place of Beck.
Stockton finished the game by completing 12 of the 16 passes he attempted for 71 yards. After this SEC Championship loss, the Longhorns are projected to be ranked 5th or 6th seed by the selection committee for the 12-team playoff.
Steve Sarkisian still believes in Texas' chances of winning the national championship
The conference championship loss is definitely a hard pill to swallow for Steve Sarkisian after the fantastic run they had this season. After winning the Big 12 title last year and amid all the criticism Texas received after joining the SEC, they still fought through everything to showcase their value to college football fans
In the post-game conference, he opened up about how it was disappointing to see Kirby Smart's team lift the championship. However, the next step for them is to regain composure and focus on working to win the natty.
"This stings," Sarkisian said as per AP. "But we get a chance to regroup in a couple weeks and get into the College Football Playoff and go compete for a national championship. I think we're plenty good enough to go win that."
The quest to lift the natty will not be an easy one for the Longhorns amid all the talented teams fighting for the same prize. However, they will first need to focus on minimizing the mistakes they made against Georgia and work on improving their weak points so that other teams cannot further exploit them in the future.
