Travis Hunter and the Colorado Buffaloes lost to the Nebraska Cornhuskers 28-10 on Saturday. Although CU was the underdog, how the Buffaloes lost was surprising. So, when Hunter appeared on a podcast on Wednesday morning, fans were surprised by the message he had for the fans of the team that beat him, Nebraska.
Hunter praised the team and its fans in the stadium:
"Nebraska is a good team. They beat us fair and square. That environment was top 10. Their fans were so loud I couldn't even think to myself. Shout out to Nebraska."
Nebraska started the game aggressively, getting out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and doubling the margin to 28-0 by the end of the first half. At that point, Hunter was visibly upset on the sideline.
Although the Buffaloes put up some points in the second half, they still suffered a 28-10 loss.
What is next for Travis Hunter and Colorado?
Although the loss on Saturday to Nebraska was disappointing for Colorado (1-1), the Buffaloes will look to bounce back in an in-state matchup this weekend against visiting Colorado State (1-1). The Buffaloes are a 23.5-point favorite, according to FanDuel.
However, for the Buffaloes to win, they will need better performances from their stars, including Travis Hunter. He had a big Week 1 but was less effective in Week 2 against Nebraska.
In Week 1, Hunter had seven receptions for 132 yards (18.9 yards per catch) and three touchdowns. He also had three solo tackles on defense.
In Week 2, he regressed in almost every major statistical category. Against Nebraska, Hunter had 10 receptions but fewer yards, with 110 (11.0 per catch). He had no touchdowns, and his performance on defense was worse. He only had one solo tackle.
