The Mississippi State Bulldogs face the Texas Longhorns during Week 5 this weekend. Since Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers is likely not to play in the game as he is recovering from an abdominal injury, Arch Manning will be the starting quarterback again for Texas.

Manning had a mixed performance last week against the UL Monroe Warhawks. While he was able to score two touchdowns and successfully lead the Longhorns offense to a convincing victory, he did make a few mistakes.

Most notable are the two interceptions he threw, which included one on the opening drive of the game.

This will give the Bulldogs some hope. If they can pressure him, Manning may struggle. But who are some of the players on the Mississippi State team that could cause Arch Manning problems?

3 Mississippi State players who could pose serious threat to Arch Manning in Week 5

#1. Branden Jennings

Branden Jennings is a linebacker and could form a strong part of the effort to pressure Arch Manning during the game. During the limited number of snaps he has had so far in the season, Jennings has already been able to establish himself as a strong defensive player.

He leads the Bulldogs in sacks and is the only player on the team to have recorded more than three plays behind the line of scrimmage. Additionally, he is known for his speed, being able to quickly reach his opponents, be it quarterback or receiver.

Jennings is likely to be the player that is marked by the Longhorns offensive line, as he could cause a number of problems for Arch Manning.

#2. Brice Pollock

Brice Pollock plays in the cornerback position for the Bulldogs. In the secondary, he is unlikely to come into any direct contact with Arch Manning. But that does not mean that the Longhorns quarterback can ignore him.

Pollock has three pass deflections during the still-young season, which is the fifth highest in the SEC. This will make him a threat for any pass thrown by Manning. He will be likely to mark star wide receiver Isaiah Bond and could limit Manning's work with the wide receiver or even intercept his passes.

#3. Issac Smith

Issac Smith plays in the safety position and has had a strong start to his sophomore year with the Bulldogs. He has already recorded 51 tackles, which leads the team. This includes one forced fumble, which he caused during the Bulldogs' game last week against the Florida Gators.

Smith has been able to prove himself as a strong leader of the defense, who is able to stop many players in their track.

He could cause Arch Manning problems, as the run game could be limited due to the actions of Smith. This will force the Longhorns quarterback to pass more, thus increasing the likelihood of throwing an interception.
