FS1 analyst Mark Schlereth has heaped praise on Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo after his stellar outing against the Texas Longhorns in the Peach Bowl on Wednesday. Although the Sun Devils lost 39-31 in double overtime and were eliminated from the College Football Playoff, Skattebo's performance caught the eye of Schlereth.
On Thursday's episode of "Breakfast Ball" on FS1, three-time Super Bowl winner Schlereth reminisced a saying from legendary coach Bill Belichick to compliment Skattebo.
"Bill Belichick said it the best," Schlereth said. "And one of the reasons he's one of the greatest coaches or maybe the greatest coach that's coached in the NFL is that 'Don't tell me what a guy can't do. Tell me what he can do and I'll find six or seven plays that will change the outcome of our football game.'"
Schlereth then waxed lyrical on Skattebo.
"That dude (Skatebbo) right there, that guy is a football playing Jesse. That's the highest compliment I pay to anybody. And I don't even know what that means, but that guy is awesome. And I would have him on my team, no question." Schlereth said.
Skattebo has reportedly garnered a lot of attention from NFL teams after a solid season with the Sun Devils. The ASU running back racked up 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns on 293 carries. He also recorded 605 yards and three touchdowns on 45 receptions across 13 games.
Skattebo began his collegiate career with the Sacramento State Hornets in 2021. He played two seasons with them before transferring to ASU in 2023.
After four seasons on the college circuit, it appears that Skattebo could declare for the 2025 NFL draft.
