The Colorado Buffaloes under the tenure of head coach Deion Sanders is a program that appears to have divided many college football fans. Some fans think that they deserve the hype they are getting, while others view the team that went 4-8 last season negatively.
During his time with Colorado, Deion Sanders has been known for having a reputation for being active in both the transfer portal and recruitment. One of the talents that Sanders has brought into the 2025 class is four-star prospect, Alex Graham.
Speaking with Rivals on Thursday, Graham spoke about how the media treats the Buffaloes and Deion Sanders.
“Colorado gets a lot of hate, everyday I see something about Coach Prime… just wait til I get there, we gone show yall.”
Alex Graham is a four-star prospect safety who plays high school football at the prestigious IMG Academy. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Graham received offers from many top-performing schools, including his home state, Michigan Wolverines.
But in the end, Graham decided to come to the Colorado Buffaloes. Speaking with Rivals, Graham spoke about what he thought about committing to Colorado, a school that picks up more players in the transfer portal than through high school recruitment.
"That’s just telling me they believe in me, They do take a lot of players in the portal so it means a lot for them to take a high school player. It means they expect me to handle business, so I'm gonna do that."
Of course, playing for the Colorado Buffaloes means working with Deion Sanders, a coach who seems to have a high turnover of players and a distinct hierarchy in the team.
This does not seem to worry Graham, who is more than happy to work with the coach, as he told Rivals.
"Honestly, he's a really good dude, When people usually meet their heroes, they don't seem to be like the person they think they would be. But Coach Prime is a real good dude, he's very genuine, he keeps it real with me...You can talk to him about anything and that's what I like about him."
Who else has Deion Sanders recruited for the 2025 class?
The Colorado Buffaloes 2025 recruitment class is currently the 80th ranked class according to 247sports.com, and only consists of five players at the moment.
Alex Graham was the first of these players and only one of two defensemen.
Graham will be joined on defense by linebacker Mantrez Walker. Walker is the 53rd-best linebacker in the 2025 class (according to 247sports.com) and recorded 54 tackles in the 2023 season.
The rest of the recruits so far mostly work on the offensive line. This was a part of the 2023 Buffaloes team that struggled, and Sanders has completely rebuilt for the 2024 season.
The recruitment of two more linesmen shows that Sanders still wants to improve the o-line, and will want to bring in long-term talent that can keep the Buffaloes quarterback (whoever it may be in 2025) safe for years to come.
