Bill Belichick's move to college football to become the new coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels continues to gain reactions from those close to the legendary coach.

One of these came on Wednesday night during the LA Bowl when Rob Gronkowski, who won three Super Bowls with Belichick at the Patriots (and then another with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) gave his verdict on the appointment.

Speaking to ESPN, Gronkowski said this about his former coach's new job:

"He's (Bill Belichick) going to do an awesome job coaching those young bucks at UNC. He's going to make College Football that much more suspenseful, that much more fun, and that much more interesting... He's going to be winning games at the University of North Carolina, and I will be tuning on, just like everyone else."

Before heading to the Tar Heels, Belichick had been the coach and general manager of the New England Patriots for 24 seasons. He led the team to six Super Bowl titles, creating a modern dynasty.

Belichick had always been involved with the NFL, so the move to College Football may have surprised some people. He would have to deal with things that an NFL coach would have never faced, like high school recruitment and the ever changing rules and dynamics concerning the NIL.

Belichick will bring his unique style of play and management to the Tar Heels. As Gronk put it, this will make many people tune in to see if Belichick will be able to transform the Tar Heels, a school known more for its basketball program, into winners.

Lawrence Taylor on Bill Belichick

Another former player who worked with Bill Belichick has also given his backing to the coach.

Lawrence Taylor, the legendary defensive tackle, was coached by Belichick when he was the defensive coordinator with the Giants under coach Bill Parcells. He also played in North Carolina.

Speaking to Adam Schefter, Taylor said the following about the Tar Heels' new coach:

"Well, I'll tell you the truth, all I can say is that Carolina got a chance to win it all again now,l. You know, they got a chance. I think it's all about recruiting and all that stuff. And one thing I got to tell you. If you're looking at Bill Belichick, as far as, he has the knowledge. He knows the game of football."

Under Bill Belichick, North Carolina has a serious chance to challenge for the ACC title.

There is a possibility that we could see a repeat of what former NFL player Deion Sanders has done with the Colorado Buffaloes.
