After winning the Heisman Trophy, Travis Hunter and his fianceé are set to make this Christmas special for five families. The two-way star became the second defensive player to earn the most coveted honor in college football, and he is celebrating that in a special way.
On Wednesday, Hunter's fianceé, Leanna Lenee, announced their heartwarming gesture for Christmas on her Instagram story. They will be paying for the Christmas list of the children of five lucky families, a welcome gesture among parents and college football fans.
“Can 5 moms/dads text me with your child/children’s Christmas list?” Lenee wrote. “Travis and I are picking 5 families to shop for today.”
The post didn't stay long on Leanna Lenee’s story before it got deleted. It appears she's already received a lot of entries, and the picks have probably been made by her and Travis Hunter, who has an NIL value of $5.2 million, according to On3.
Travis Hunter appreciates his fianceé in his Heisman acceptance speech
In his Heisman Trophy acceptance speech at the Lincoln Center in New York on Saturday, Travis Hunter expressed his gratitude to a lot of people. The first person he mentioned was his fiancée, Leanna Lenee, recognizing her love and support on the route to winning the coveted honor.
“First off, I want to thank God. I never thought I'd be in this position," Hunter said. 'It's crazy. Your belief will take you a long way. It's actually crazy, man. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
"First, I want to thank my fiancée and my mother. They've been with me since the first time I had surgery (in) my first year of college. They never took a step away from me. All the hard hours, all the hard days, all the time."
Hunter will be getting married in 2025, just before the start of his NFL career. Their relationship traces back to his senior year at Collins High School, where they were students.
“May 24th, next year, bro," Hunter said on a “2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders” podcast in November. "Right around the rookie minicamp in Chattanooga, Tennessee. "It's a good venue, bro. (Leanna) wanted to have a good venue for everybody.”
Travis Hunter also sent his appreciation to a lot of people, including his father, as well as Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders and his teammate,s on the Heisman Trophy podium. This is a recognition of their immense efforts in his success.
Playing on both sides of the ball, the two-way star is one of the most unique players to win the award. That will be remembered for several years and likely will also be an inspiration to the next generation of college athletes.
