The 2024 college football season is less than a month away. The season kicks off on Aug. 24 with eight teams in action. The game between the Florida State Seminoles and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Dublin, Ireland will likely be the highest-profile matchup on opening day.

Brutus Buckeye is among the most iconic mascots in college football. The Ohio State Buckeyes mascot debuted in 1965 and remains one of the most recognizable figures in the sport. Ohio State, as always, should be among the best teams in the nation next season and be in contention for a national championship, which means Brutus Buckeye will be back in the national spotlight yet again.
#2. The Oregon Duck - Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Duck was first seen in 1940, bearing a striking resemblance to Donald Duck. By 1947, the program had an agreement with Walt Disney to use the iconic cartoon character's likeness. The Oregon Ducks could be fighting for the national championship in 2024, giving The Oregon Duck plenty of potential national screen time.

While the Colorado Buffaloes have used live buffaloes on their sidelines on-and-off dating back to 1934, the name Ralphie the Buffalo was first applied in 1966. The following year, a tradition of having a buffalo run on the field before home games began.

Uga has been the official mascot of the Georgia Bulldogs since 1956. The live bulldog is a fan favorite and one of the most well-liked mascots in college sports.
Georgia is also expected to remain in the spotlight as they look to bounce back from missing the College Football Playoff after back-to-back national titles.
