The Colorado Buffaloes are in the midst of their second season -- and first Big 12 campaign -- under head coach Deion Sanders. After last season's 4-8 campaign, the Buffs have managed to already lock in four wins this season. However, they could not secure their fifth win of the season against Kansas State in a thrilling Week 7 contest as they lost, 31-28.

A total of 53,972 fans were present at Folsom Field for the Buffs' Big 12 showdown with the Kansas State Wildcats. Per beat writer Brian Howell, it is the second-largest crowd to gather at the Buffs' home ground since 2006.

Last year's game against USC during Deion Sanders' debut season was the only bigger crowd at home with a total attendance of 54,032 fans. In that game, the Trojans emerged victorious with a 48-41 final score despite the Buffs putting on a fight till the end.

The loss at the hands of the Wildcats brings an end to Colorado's two-game winning streak. They lost two of their top offensive players Travis Hunter and Jimmy Horn Jr. in the first half to apparent injuries. Both of them did not return in the second half and had to watch their team from the sidelines.

This proved to be a fatal blow to the Buffs' offensive firepower. Without the availability of Horn and Hunter, the depth chart was tested to its limit and Shedeur Sanders had to adjust his plays on the field.

Deion Sanders' Colorado put on a fight till the end despite the challenges

Despite the hurdles that they faced, the Buffs put up a great fight till the end. Will Sheppard scored a touchdown after a seven-yard pass from Shedeur in the third quarter to close the gap between them. Isaiah Agustave and LaJohntay Wester scored a touchdown each in the fourth quarter to put the Buffs in the lead by four points.

However, their happiness was short-lived as Kansas State QB Avery Johnson found Jayce Brown with a 50-yard TD pass. This proved to be the final nail in the coffin for Colorado as the Wildcats took home their fifth win of the season.

Shedeur Sanders finished the night with 388 passing yards and three TD passes. His last Hail Mary attempt to find Will Sheppard proved to be unsuccessful, resulting in an incomplete pass. Deion Sanders and the Buffs will travel in Week 8 to take on the Arizona Wildcats.
