Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders was by his teammate Heisman winner Travis Hunter's side during the prestigious award ceremony in New York after a historic season together. The pair were back in training just days later as the Buffs prepared to face the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl for one last appearance for the duo in college football.
On Wednesday, the Buffs quarterback projected in ESPN's latest mock draft to be the No. 1 quarterback off the board addressed his draft goals and threw in a hilarious tidbit about his father buying his suits for him despite having a $6.2 million NIL valuation (as per On3).
"My main goal is just to get drafted before dad did," Shedeur Sanders said. "So, that's it. I've gotta have one up on him. Does your dad actually buy your suits? Yes, he buys my suits. He's put me on a better path you know, something I wasn't ready for you know."
Shedeur Sanders draft and NFL future praised by legend
On Monday, during an interview with "TMZ Sports," NFL legend Troy Aikman who played with Coach Prime was full of praise for Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
“I do think he’s a franchise quarterback. I love his game,” Aikman said. “I’ve obviously been watching him for a number of years. I know his father intimately well and wish him the best, of course, as well. What Shedeuer has been able to do has been remarkable. You know, to start first, going back to when he was young, before he went off to college. But, you know, success has followed him.
“It’s not a surprise for anyone who’s followed Deion’s career and what he’s done as a coach as well. So I’m excited for Colorado. I’m excited for Shedeur and really looking forward to seeing what he might do at the NFL level. My expectation is that he’s going to have a hell of a career.”
While the 2025 quarterback draft class might have prospects like Texas' Quinn Ewers and Georgia's Carson Beck, Miami's Cam Ward and Colorado's Sanders have been consistently projected to be the first quarterbacks off the board by both CBS Sports and ESPN.
In Sander's case, Coach Prime confessed repeatedly in the past that he would interfere in his son's draft future. The New York Giants and the Las Vegas Raiders are the two likeliest teams to hold the top draft picks, an interesting situation for college football and NFL fans.
