After a five-decade coaching career, former Alabama head coach Nick Saban retired in January this year. Following his 17-season tenure in Tuscaloosa, he continues to stay close to the game of football as an analyst on the College GameDay crew during the 2024 NFL draft.

Nick Saban, who has an $80 million net worth (via Celebrity Net Worth), has been sharing his insights and analysis of players during the draft process this year. When former Toledo Rockets CB Quinyon Mitchell was drafted at 22nd overall pick by the Philadelphia Eagles, the 72-year-old former head coach admitted to having Mitchell on his radar during his time with the Crimson Tide.

"He was our No.1 guy in the portal last year try to get him to come out of the protal, and he would never get in the portal", Saban said while talking about Quinyon Mitchell."

Quinyon Mitchell began his collegiate journey with Toledo back in 2020. After playing four games his freshman season, he returned in 2021 as a starter on the team, tallying 34 total tackles and one fumble recovery during that season.

He returned as a starter on the team in 2022 and went on to record 41 total tackles and five interceptions for Toledo, which led to him being honored as a First-Team All-Mid-America-Conference. Last season, he put up 41 total tackles and one interception on the gridiron and also became the first Toledo player to be a semifinalist for the Chuck Bedarnik Award.

Former Washington WR Rome Odunze made his way to the Chicago Bears in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. As Odunze made his way to the stage, Nick Saban heaped praise on his resilience in overcoming a punctured lung injury last season.

"This guy, I said it earlier, he's a dog, man. He's a great competitor, he's a big body, uses his body well, he's got enough speed to get away from people", Saban said.
"The story about this guy punctured a lung in Arizona, driving all the way back to Seattle cuz he couldn't travel with the team. They had a bye-week the next week, he goes and plays against Oregon the next week and wins. I mean, how many players have that kind of mental toughness?"
