Carson Beck announced his transfer to the University of Miami on Friday. The quarterback has been the starting QB for Georgia over the past two seasons and was expected to transition to the NFL. However, he will play for the Hurricanes in the 2025 season.
Beck is set to step into a significant role as he joins Miami, replacing standout QB and Heisman Trophy finalist Cam Ward. His arrival is poised to keep the Hurricanes' offense dynamic and competitive next season.
Following the completion of his transfer, Kylie Beck celebrated her brother on social media. In an Instagram story posted on Friday, she congratulated Carson while expressing confidence in his new journey.
“Sky is the limit for you!! Here’s to a new beginnings and a new era,” Kylie wrote.
Will Carson Beck's sister also transfer to Miami
Carson Beck's sister, Kylie, has studied at Georgia in the last few years alongside him. Kylie is also a cheerleader for the Bulldogs which gave her the unique opportunity to cheer for her brother from the sideline.
However, this might not continue next season as Kylie hasn't disclosed any plan to leave Athens. Nonetheless, Beck will receive a new form of support at Miami. His girlfriend, Hanna Cavinder and her sister Haley, play for the Hurricanes women’s basketball team.
Carson Beck's decision from NFL draft to transfer portal
Carson Beck declared for the NFL draft in December after it was announced that he wouldn’t be playing in Georgia’s College Football Playoff campaign due to injury. He penned a heartfelt note to the program and its fans before changing his decision.
“The past five years at the University of Georgia have been nothing short of a dream come true and I will forever cherish the memories that have been made,” Beck wrote. "Thank you Dawg Nation for the time I’ve been here and to those who’ve supported and believed in me, thank you.
“It’s been an incredible journey and all these moments have ultimately led me to take the next step in my football career. With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2025 NFL draft. Go Dawgs!”
According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Beck made the decision to transfer after receiving projections from NFL draft experts, which placed him anywhere between the first and third rounds. His draft stock saw fluctuations during the season, prompting him to consider other options.
