Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders celebrated a major milestone after he led the team to bowl-eligibility for the first time in eight years after the Buffs' Week 9 34-23 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats. Sanders has had an impressive season, registering 2,591 yards on 73.3% completion, resulting in 21 touchdowns and six interceptions.
On Monday, the maverick quarterback, who has long been tabbed to declare for the 2025 NFL draft, revealed his academic future on X.
"I’m graduating early btw," Shedeur Sanders tweeted.
The Buffaloes and Shedeur Sanders still have four games remaining in the regular season, starting with a pivotal clash against the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Week 11.
Shedeur Sanders draft future analyzed by experts
Shedeur Sanders has made a name for himself as one of the best quarterbacks in college football. During last week's episode of "Big Bets on Campus," outspoken former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel weighed in on the quarterback's possible draft pick.
"Shedeur is obviously going to be a guy that’s going to be looked at and probably be the top quarterback coming off the board this year," Manziel said. "He’s played well for what he’s around him at times, he had guys out this week, and he still continues to find a way to put up good numbers and play really well.
"The Jacksonville (Jaguars) situation to me is a little bit more of a different situation. You know you didn’t just draft this guy; you just actually unloaded the Brinks truck and backed it up to his house.
"So, I think they are going to stick with Lawrence probably through some of these growing pains and I don’t think they have the ability to really be able to move on."
The Athletic's NFL draft analyst Zack Rosenblatt mocked Shedeur to the New York Jets as a package deal with his charismatic father as the coach.
"Jets owner Woody Johnson wants to sell tickets above all else, and Sanders is about as flashy as coaching candidates come," Rosenblatt wrote. "The prospect of pairing Sanders with his son Shedeur, a potential first-round quarterback, might appeal to the Jets owner.
"That's not to say this would be a good idea — it would become an even bigger circus around here. But it can't be ruled out completely."
Wherever Shedeur Sanders ends up in the NFL, he is bound to be box office accompanied by the Deion Sanders effect, as the Colorado coach has weighed in on the destinations that he envisions for his sons.
