The Texas Longhorns failed to make it to the national championship finals this season. Despite their best efforts, Steve Sarkisian and his team succumbed to a 28-14 loss at the hands of Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl Classic CFP semifinal game.
College football fans on social media trolled the Texas Longhorns for their early celebration during the game. After the Buckeyes took an early lead in the first quarter, Quinn Ewers made an 18-yard TD pass to Jaydon Blue to tie the game. They then decided to celebrate by breaking out the moves of the Globo-Gym Purple Cobras from the iconic 2004 film 'Dodgeball.'
One fan commented that this early celebration did not end with a victory for the Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl Classic.
"Aged terribly"
This fan commented about how the Texas Longhorns' premature celebration did not end well at the final whistle of the Cotton Bowl Classic.
"And how'd that work for them!!!!! I would not allow the Team to celebrate until the game was won, not after each touchdown in any league it does not create momentum or anything else."
Another fan stated that the smile on the Texas players faces faded quickly when Ohio State immediately replied with a 75-yard TD pass from Will Howard to TreVeyon Henderson.
"Quality celebration. That joy lasted exactly one play before 75 yard Ohio State TD."
"They ain't got the right to be doing allat rn" another fan added.
"A little yo early to be celebrating," another fan commented.
This fan joked about how Texas got instant karma by conceding a touchdown in the next play.
"Then gave up a TD on next play."
Texas did tie the game 14-14 in the second half. However, the fourth quarter saw Ohio State score two more touchdowns. This ultimately left the Longhorns with no means of a comeback and earned the Buckeyes the victory in this Cotton Bowl Classic showdown.
Steve Sarkisian's wife Loreal expresses gratitude to Texas Longhorns fans after Cotton Bowl Classic loss
Sarkisian helped the Texas Longhorns put up an impressive debut in the SEC conference this season. However, their hopes of lifting the natty were crushed by the Ohio State Buckeyes in the CFP semifinal game.
Steve Sarkisian's wife, Loreal Sarkisian, took to social media to express her gratitude to the fans for their constant love and support throughout the season.
"Thank you to EVERYONE who showed love and support for @CoachSark and his team this season! You all are awesome!"
The Texas Longhorns will now go back to the drawing room and begin preparations for success next season.
