Four-star Keisean Henderson, the class of 2026, has made his decision to commit to Houston.
Henderson is listed as an athlete and plays his high school ball at Houston Legacy the School of Sport Sciences. On Tuesday morning, he committed to the University of Houston and said:
“Aint nothing better than Home.”
According to On3, Henderson is the country’s No. 30 overall prospect, No. 2 athlete and No. 3 recruit from Texas.
Henderson was reportedly the top target for Houston, and new Cougars coach Willie Fritz had been recruiting the athlete since he was a coach at Tulane.
"It's a big family there," said Hendersov (via 247 Sports). "I get to stay home. All of the coaches there were already recruiting me from the schools they were at before too. I have a great relationship with coach Fritz and coach Bell.
"Coach Bell offered me at Baylor and gave me the first opportunity to play quarterback," continued Henderson. "Coach Fritz and I have a great relationship too. My head coach, funny story, coach Fritz was actually the first person that put him on the map when they were at Blinn. Seeing how he treated my coach, coach Bishop, in the past, that really meant a lot to me."
As a quarterback, Henderson completed over 63 percent of his passes for 1,574 yards and 21 touchdowns to three interceptions in six games as a sophomore. He can play multiple positions but will get a run as a quarterback to begin with.
Henderson also received offers from SMU, Texas A&M, UTSA, Arizona State, UNLV, Colorado, Washington State, TCU, Kansas, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Baylor, Texas Tech, Cal, Boston College, Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, Washington, LSU, Missouri and Arkansas.
Houston HC Willie Fritz planned to recruit Texas heavily
After the Houston Cougars announced Willie Fritz as the coach of the program, he vowed to focus on recruiting Texas.
Fritz wants homegrown players to play for Houston and did just that by landing 2026 four-star athlete Keisean Henderson.
"We're going to recruit the heck out of the state of Texas," Fritz said (via ESPN).
"I don't know why you wouldn't. The best football in the country's played here in this state. And I'm fortunate that I know a bunch of the high school coaches, and I'm excited about renewing my acquaintances with those guys."
