Alabama fans subtly roast Mike Norvell with FSU HC taking leading spot as Nick Saban's replacement: “Yeah we’re screwed”

Mike Norvell was roasted by fans after he took the leading spot as the Nick Saban replacement.

Since Nick Saban's retirement announcement, many names have been doing the rounds as his potential replacement in Alabama. The Florida State Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell has emerged as a front-runner for the post. Norvell is in the leading spot as far as taking the job in Tuscaloosa is concerned.

Norvell has done a great job with the Seminoles, leading them to an unbeaten regular season and the ACC championship title.

His team missed out on the playoffs on account of Alabama of all teams and lost heavily to the Georgia Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl. Can he replace the best coach in at least the Crimson Tide football history?

The college football world doesn't seem to be a fan of the prospect. Fans took to social media to roast Mike Norvell for the possibility of him replacing coach Saban. A fan said:

“That whiny crybaby is at the perfect spot. Hope they don't pursue this 'coach.'”

Another fan made their feelings clear:

Yeah we’re screwed.”

A fan wants Alabama to hire their choice for head coach:

“They should hire Mel Tucker.”

Another fan said:

“Oof…taking their playoff spot and HC? Hahahaha Wild.”

Another fan took a shot at the Gators and the Hurricanes:

“Must be nice to be a Gators or Hurricanes fan and have zero fear your coach is getting plucked.”

But not all fans are averse to the idea. One said:

“He is indeed the best choice. Whether or not he wants to leave what he’s begun at FSU is the question.”

Another fan wrote:

“Yeah but Mike’s not interested.”

This fan brought in Deion Sanders into the conversation.

Mike Norvell’s record as college football head coach

Mike Norvell has eight seasons of coaching experience under his belt from his stints with the Memphis Tigers and the FSU Seminoles. In total, he has coached in 102 games, winning 69 of them and losing 33. His overall per-game win average comes at .676.

Norvell has been with FSU for four seasons now, coaching them in 48 games so far. 31 of those have resulted in victories while the team has suffered 17 defeats under him. His per-game win average at FSU is .646 so far.

The Seminoles missed out on the playoffs despite their flawless 12-0 record in the regular season and the ACC title. The CFP selection committee cited an easier schedule and injury to QB Jordan Travis as the reasons for the omission.

The team also suffered the biggest ever Bowl game loss in the Orange Bowl as the Georgia Bulldogs hammered them with a 63-3 scoreline. Is the record enough to get Mike Norvell to Alabama?
