Kalen DeBoer left the University of Washington earlier this year to continue his career elsewhere. However, her daughter, Alexis, is set to become part of the university. She will be entering her freshman season as a softball player after committing to the university last year.

Following Kalen DeBoer's departure to Alabama after the national championship loss to Michigan in January, there were a lot of talks about whether Alexis would follow him. However, she decided to stay in Seattle and play her college softball career with the Huskies

With Washington officially joining the Big Ten on Friday, Alexis DeBoer celebrated the arrival of the Huskies to the conference on her Instagram story. She posted a graphics design shared by the official handle of the Washington Softball, welcoming the team to the Big Ten.

Kalen DeBoer on taking the Alabama job

Succeeding the greatest college football coach of all time might not really be a good idea. Many people must have obviously echoed this to Kalen DeBoer when the Alabama offer came. He was questioned on his feelings about taking the job during the SEC media days, as reported by Blake Byler via the Alabama Crimson Tide.

“I totally get it. I understand there's only one Coach Saban. There will only ever be one Coach Saban,” DeBoer said. “This program is special, and I guess I just take it as a great honor to be the one that gets to do everything we can to carry on the great tradition.”
“So much blood, sweat and tears, whether it's the players and the alumni that have been in this program or coaches, and obviously referring to Coach Saban, so much is put into this place."

There are a lot of expectations for DeBoer ahead of his first season in Tuscaloosa. He has the responsibility to keep up Alabama's culture of dominance established under Nick Saban.

Kalen DeBoer on what has surprised him at Alabama

Alabama is undoubtedly one of the biggest college football programs and, Kalen DeBoer is likely experiencing things differently compared to his previous positions. He responded to a question about the biggest surprise he's encountered since arriving in Tuscaloosa.

“I should never be surprised at the things that great programs do and have and the culture that exists. But what really has been awesome to see, and again, this isn't necessarily a surprise, but it's been awesome just to see our guys be completely 100 percent focused on the main things.“ said DeBoer during the SEC media days.

The utmost focus of the player in the game is a good sign for DeBoer as the 2024 college football season draws closer. With the College Football Playoff expanding to 12 teams next season, securing a spot will be the least expected from him.
