Following an off week, No. 4 Alabama kicks off its conference play for the 2024 season against Georgia in Tuscaloosa on Saturday. The Crimson Tide have been impressive so far under Kalen DeBoer and they face their first big test of the season against the Bulldogs.
Alabama recorded a couple of injuries in their first three games of the season. This involved some notable starters within the new setup of the team. Ahead of the classic SEC encounter against Georgia, DeBoer provided the media with a detailed update on Alabama’s injury report on Monday.
Here’s a look at the update on the Crimson Tide players injured ahead of the Georgia game.
Alabama injury update ahead of Week 5
Malachi Moore, DB, Head
Malachi Moore left the game against Wisconsin in Week 3 after suffering a hit in the head. However, the strong safety is anticipated to be back in action in the upcoming game against the Bulldogs.
“I would expect Malachi, that was just a matter of time working through his situation,” DeBoer said. “He's out there practicing already at the end of last week.”
Qua Russaw, LB, Lower Leg
Qua Russaw suffered a lower leg injury just before halftime in the game against Wisconsin. His left ankle was rolled over by a teammate, leading to his exit from the game and never making a return. There's optimism the redshirt freshman will be available for Georgia.
“With Qua, still taking the steps, still working through his situation,” DeBoer said. "I'm optimistic. I'm optimistic with Qua. We'll just have to see as we evaluate through the week what that looks like for him.”
Richard Young, RB, Lower Leg
Richard Young also left the game against Wisconsin with a lower leg injury in Week 3. However, there's a positive sign the running back will be available for the Georgia game this weekend.
“Richard, it's the same case, he's been out there, been in uniform and going through the drills and working back slowly with the bye week,” DeBoer said. “You never want to not push, but we also had to make sure doing smart with these guys and not setting them up for any setbacks.”
Cole Adams, WR, Arm
Cole Adams has been out of action since suffering an arm injury in the Week 2 game against South Florida. However, there's optimism he will feature for Alabama against Georgia during the weekend.
“Cole practiced here, not 100 percent of practice, but he's out there competing and doing some things with the activities that we have, even some competitive drills," DeBoer said. “So we're just working him back slowly.”
Alabama's injury report from Kalen DeBoer on Monday shows the program is in a good position health-wise. This offers huge momentum for the Crimson Tide as they navigate life after the era of Nick Saban.
