Alabama's offensive lineman Tyler Booker opened up about his weight loss ahead of the 2024 college football season. By his own admission, Booker has already cut down to 330 pounds and plans to get leaner for an important upcoming season with the Tide.
As per Clint Lamb of On3, Booker is hoping to shred five more pounds to get to 325 pounds before the season begins. The Alabama star weighed 352 pounds during his sophomore year after going through his freshman year at 332 pounds.
Last month, Booker spoke to Crimson Tide Network and explained that his weight loss will help with his mobility during the football season:
"I'm 330 right now. I played at 355 this past season. This weight loss is definitely going to help me this season."
Before the 2024 regular season begins, Alabama will host several practice and workout sessions and Booker is likely to use those workouts to further cut down on his weight.
Alabama will begin its 2024 season by hosting Western Kentucky on Aug. 31.
Tyler Booker to attend SEC Media Day 3 with Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer
Tyler Booker will be at the Omni Hotel in Dallas, Texas, for the SEC Media Day 3 on Wednesday. He will be joined by teammates Jalen Milroe and Malachi Moore, along with Tide coach Kalen DeBoer.
Booker has been one of the key players on Alabama's roster since joining the team in 2022. He developed his game for two years under legendary coach Nick Saban and even earned a First-Team All-SEC selection in 2023.
When Saban announced his retirement in January this year, DeBoer was appointed as his replacement at Alabama.
Since Booker has already played two seasons at Alabama, he knows the team well. He will likely play a critical role in DeBoer's offensive line in the 2024 season.
Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see how Booker and DeBoer work together at Alabama.
