Ty Simpson joined the Alabama Crimson Tide as a five-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. While players often transfer when they do not receive much playing time, that has not been the case for the Crimson Tide quarterback. He will be back with the program for a third season.
Simpson has completed 15 of his 25 passes for 214 yards without throwing for a touchdown or interception. He has added 86 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. The redshirt sophomore, who has a NIL-value of $666,000 (according to On3 Sports), recently signed a multi-year deal with Harbin Automotive.
On3 Sports NIL took to X to announce the deal, tweeting:
"Alabama QB Ty Simpson has entered into a multi-year NIL agreement with Harbin Automotive. He will receive a new Ford or Chevrolet truck every several months in exchange for promoting Harbin. He's starting with a 2024 Chevy Silverado."

"I am just so grateful to everyone at Harbin and truly consider them to be part of my team. I love my truck and am proud to have Harbin as a partner." [h/t On3 Sports]
Harbin Automotive praises Ty Simpson following announcement of NIL deal
While the financial terms of Ty Simpson's deal with Harbin Automotive remain unclear, both sides appear to be happy with the partnership. Win Harbin, who owns the automotive company, praised the Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback following the announcement of the deal. In a statement shared by Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, he stated:
"As fourth-generation business owners, character and integrity have been the building blocks of our 85-year-old family business. When NIL partnerships became an opportunity, those two things were non-negotiable for us. Ty embodies these qualities and more and we are excited to partner with him for the upcoming season and years to come." [h/t On3 Sports]
Simpson is set to enter the 2024 season as the backup to starting quarterback Jalen Milroe. He has yet to make a start under center in his brief collegiate career.
