No. 11 Alabama used four TDs by QB Jalen Milroe to dominate No. 15 in a battle with massive College Football Playoff ramifications, winning 42-13. The No. 11 Tide (7-2, 4-2) were just inside of the initial CFP field projections, but a third conference loss to the Tigers could have been fatal.

Instead, QB Jalen Milroe rushed for nearly 200 yards and four touchdowns to dominate the game.

Meanwhile, the No. 15 Tigers (6-3, 3-2) had recovered well from a season-opening loss to USC, but they lost by two scores two weeks ago to Texas A&M and have now been dominated by Alabama. Like Alabama, LSU had a fairly strong CFP resume, but this third loss will likely be significant.

Alabama used its running game to jump to a fast start. Milroe scored a pair of first-half touchdowns, the first from 39 yards out, to give the Tide a 21-6 edge at intermission. LSU had countered only with a pair of Damian Ramos field goals.

The Tigers made an impressive drive early in the third quarter, but on 2nd and goal from the Alabama 4-yard line, QB Garrett Nussmeier was intercepted in the end zone. After that, Milroe pulled away, adding another pair of touchdown runs, the last blowing the game open with a 72-yard burst early in the 4th quarter at 35-6.

Alabama certainly did not hurt its CFP stock in what stands to be likely its last competitive game of the regular season. The Tide now host Mercer and Auburn in the Iron Bowl, with a road game at Oklahoma in between.

LSU will likely slide out of CFP contention with the loss. The Tigers will next go to Florida and then host Vanderbilt and Oklahoma to end the regular season, which presents very little chance of a significant CFP ratings jump.
