The Third Saturday of October rivalry certainly did not disappoint this season as the 11th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers were able to have an electric second half of the game to secure a 24-17 home victory over the seventh-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. The Vols' pass defense did enough to force Jalen Milroe into some mistakes and clinched the victory.

Alabama vs. Tennessee Game Summary

The Alabama Crimson Tide just made too many mistakes and the defense could not slow down the Tennessee Volunteers in the second half. The offense could not extend drives, going just 3-of-14 on third downs and 1-of-2 on fourth down in the game. Star freshman wide receiver Ryan Williams had eight catches for 73 yards and a touchdown, but it did not prove to be enough.

The Roll Tide also saw too many yellow flags as they committed 15 accepted penalties for 115 yards.

The Vols were able to overcome losing the turnover battle and winning the game. A strong reason was the play of Dylan Sampson, who ran in a pair of touchdowns and 139 yards on the ground.
