Colorado coach Deion Sanders already achieved his pre-season aim of leading his team to bowl eligibility for the first time in eight years after beating the Cincinnati Bearcats in Week 9 of college football action. The Buffs' road game in Lubbock against the Texas Tech Red Raiders was a massive opportunity to control their fate after the Iowa State Cyclones were toppled by the Kansas Wildcats.
Sanders and Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter delivered on the road in a comprehensive 41-27 win over the Red Raiders in Week 11 despite trailing 13-0 early in the first quarter. The win moved the Buffs to No. 2 on the Big 12 ladder, just behind the unbeaten BYU Cougars, making them favorites for the conference championship game.
The 'Barstool Colorado' account on X posted a divisive tweet about Deion Sander's win, leading to a variety of reactions from college football fans.
Some fans chose to focus on the dominance of Deion Sander's team and how much more they could have won.
"The fact we could’ve won that by more is lowkey scary," one fan tweeted.
"Fix that we BIG 12 championship ready," another fan tweeted.
"We are dogshit after bye weeks. Hopefully got that out of the system," one fan tweeted.
Deion Sanders big three come through for Buffs
Deion Sanders brought his sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter with him to Boulder when he left Jackson State and he has built the foundations of the Colorado Buffaloes around the trio.
In a tough road game in Lubbock against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, the three players had big games to pull Colorado out of a 13-0 hole to blow away coach Joey McGuire's team.
Shedeur went 30 of 43 for 291 yards, resulting in three touchdowns, while Hunter tallied nine catches for 99 yards and one touchdown. Even Shilo Sanders got in on the act, recovering a fumbled ball from Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton to walk in a touchdown.
The crowd in the Jones AT&T Stadium turned hostile after a controversial referee call and when Hunter hit a cheeky celebration after his touchdown, Red Raiders fans started throwing debris on the pitch, prompting McGuire to take over the microphone to plead with them to stop.
"Stop throwing stuff on the field," McGuire said over the loudspeakers. "Students, stop throwing stuff on the field! Please!"
As Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes march toward an unexpected Big 12 Conference championship game, the three musketeers are fueling his dream of college football glory.
