The Cotton Bowl is in a few days, but the prospect of having a relatively empty Jerry World seems to be a real one. With the news of winter hitting the entire state of Texas, it has put a lot of fans’ plans to go to the game on hold. While the game will be played at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the threats of wind, rain, ice, and snow across Texas are a big concern for people planning to watch one of the oldest bowl games.
What’s good for those able to go to the stadium is that it won’t cost them an arm and a leg anymore. With the Cotton Bowl being one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the season between the Texas Longhorns and the Ohio State Buckeyes, seats for this event will normally command a hefty price tag.
With the prospect of having a few fans turning up for the game, ticket prices have gone down significantly, some already being offered for more than half off.
Seats in the upper sections usually cost around $500. Now, almost all places are offering them at under $200. Seatgeek is selling as low as $140 for standing room, while seats in the 400s start at $155. Vividseats have their prices as low as $159 on the 400s. Ticketmaster has priced their standing room at $193, while their 400s sections start at $209. Prices are as of January 8, Wednesday.
Ice and snow warnings still up on North Texas
North Texas is still expected to be hit with ice until the lead-up to the game, with travel being the most hazardous between Thursday night and Friday morning, according to NWS Forth Worth. They also reported that ice will likely reach 0.15, with a small chance of it reaching 0.25.
The game will kick off at 7:30 PM ET on Friday, January 10. For those who will not be able to make it to Arlington, the game will be broadcast on ESPN. The victor will face the winner of the other CFP semifinal game between the Norte Dame Fighting Irish and the Penn State Nittany Lions at the national championship.
