The Nebraska Cornhuskers improved to 3-0 after freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola led them to a 34-3 win against the Northern Iowa Panthers. He went 17-of-23 for 247 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.

Raiola has built a sterling reputation for himself in college football with his impressive performances this season and for often impersonating Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes' fashion style and warmup routine.

Former NFL star Antonio Brown, who is known for his controversial takes on X, took a shot at Raiola's Mahomes impression and also mentioned the Chiefs star's younger brother Jackson Mahomes.

"He’s starting to become more annoying than Jackson Mahomes #CTESPN," Brown posted.

Despite throwing his first interception of the season, it did not bother Matt Rhule as he defended the throw during his postgame press conference.

“Oh, that’s the right throw,” Rhule said. “That’s 100% the right throw.”

Dylan Raiola backed by Patrick Mahomes

Dylan Raiola has generated a lot of hype with his college football commitments. He first committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes in May 2022 but decided to reopen his recruitment in December. He then committed to the Georgia Bulldogs in May 2023 before he flipped his commitment and signed with coach Matt Rhule's Nebraska Cornhuskers in December 2023.

He has said multiple times that he idolizes Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and even wears the same No. 15 jersey. He also has the same hairstyle and does similar warmup routines and celebrations as the NFL star's.

During Wednesday's media availability, Mahomes shared his thoughts about Raiola's impersonation of him.

"It's cool, honestly," Mahomes said. "I was that guy, grew up watching players. I loved Alex Rodriguez, played shortstop and would try to make plays just like that. It helped me become the athlete that I am. It's just telling me that I'm getting a little old.
"He's a great football player and I think he's going to make his own stamp on the game," Mahomes said. "I think you've seen that early in his career."

During the offseason, Dylan Raiola and Patrick Mahomes trained together and the three-time Super Bowl champ had nothing but praise for the Nebraska QB's talent. Mahomes has been supportive of Raiola despite the mixed reactions from fans.

Dylan Raiola was the only true freshman QB in the FBS who started for his team during Week 1 of the 2024 college football season and his performances so far have justified the hype around him throughout his recruitment window.
