Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter won the 2024 Heisman Trophy as one of the best two-way players in college football history. He won the award over other finalists, including Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, Miami quarterback Cam Ward and Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel.
Hunter played his final college football game on Saturday in the Alamo Bowl when the Buffaloes lost 36-14 against BYU. He is projected to be a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Depending on the team that drafts first, he could even be the first overall pick.
Several fans reacted to this post on X. Many voiced their support for Hunter, saying he should be one of the first players drafted in the spring.
"Any team that has half a brain and has the opportunity to Draft Travis Hunter should without reservation!," one fan wrote.
"One that needs a WR over CB. His vision reminds me of Jefferson with the angles he takes. He can come in on a nickel package," one fan commented.
"It just isn’t fair the patriots had Brady and bill, now they get a generational talent lol I understand it now..," one fan added.
However, not all fans have bought into the hype. Some believe that Travis Hunter needs to pick on position or he will not be successful at the NFL level.
"A team that believes in hype. He needs to choose 1 position. As a player maybe some 5th round team. At that point sounds like a bust as a Heisman," one fan wrote.
"The real question is which side of the ball he going to line up on," one fan commented.
"Prob mid 1st round he ain’t an elite wr or elite cb he won’t be able to do that both sides of the ball sh*t I’m the big leagues," one fan added.
Where is Travis Hunter projected to be drafted?
The NFL season still has one week of the regular season left to play, so the draft order is not determined. However, there are some teams that are more likely to draft Travis Hunter than others.
Most teams prioritize the quarterback position over anything else. So teams that draft high that need a quarterback are unlikely to draft Hunter. Notably, the New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders and Cleveland Browns all need quarterbacks. So, the New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars look like two of the most likely destinations.
