Week 2 of the 2024 college football season is over, and there were a few big games that will affect next week's AP Poll. The top 25 poll will not be released until Wednesday after the ballots are submitted from all voters. However, Action Network's Brett McMurphy released his Week 3 rankings on Sunday, giving fans an idea of what the official list may look like later in the week.

McMurphy's AP Top 25 poll rankings are as follows:

  1. Georgia
  2. Texas
  3. Ohio State
  4. Alabama
  5. Miami
  6. Ole Miss
  7. Penn State
  8. USC
  9. Oregon
  10. Utah
  11. Kansas State
  12. Oklahoma State
  13. Tennessee
  14. Missouri
  15. Iowa State
  16. Oklahoma
  17. LSU
  18. Arizona
  19. Clemson
  20. Michigan
  21. Notre Dame
  22. Louisville
  23. Northern Illinois
  24. Illinois
  25. Nebraska

The Georgia Bulldogs stay in the No. 1 spot after a dominant 48-3 win over Tennessee Tech. Texas moved up to second from third after it defeated defending champions Michigan 31-12. The Miami Hurricanes move into the top 5 after previously being ranked 11th. The jump follows the Hurricanes' impressive 56-9 win over Florida A&M.

The other big move in the top 10 was the addition of the Utah Utes at No. 10. McMurphy moved them up from 17th last week after the Utes defeated Baylor 23-12 on Saturday. Kansas State and Oklahoma have made big jumps forward to 11th and 12th, respectively.

McMurphy has four new additions to his AP Top 25 poll predictions. Arizona moves to 18th, Northern Illinois to 23rd, Illinois to 24th and Nebraska to 25th. The four teams they replace in the top 25 are North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Iowa and Kansas.

Arguably the biggest upset of the week came when Northern Illinois beat the previously No. 5-ranked Notre Dame. This resulted in McMurphy moving the Huskies up to 23rd from 87th on his list.

AP Poll Top 25: Week 2

Before the start of Week 2, the official AP Top 25 poll was as follows:

  1. Georgia
  2. Ohio State
  3. Texas
  4. Alabama
  5. Notre Dame
  6. Ole Miss
  7. Oregon
  8. Penn State
  9. Missouri
  10. Michigan
  11. Utah
  12. Miami
  13. USC
  14. Tennessee
  15. Oklahoma
  16. Oklahoma State
  17. Kansas State
  18. LSU
  19. Kansas
  20. Arizona
  21. Iowa
  22. Louisville
  23. Georgia Tech
  24. North Carolina State
  25. Clemson

Based on McMurphy's ranking and the games that took place in Week 2, Notre Dame is likely to take the biggest hit. The Fighting Irish probably will not fall out of the top 25 because it was previously top 5. However, a loss to an unranked Northern Illinois team will hurt the school's ranking significantly.

Teams like Miami, Kansas State, Utah and Oklahoma State are expected to rise after impressive Week 2 wins. Texas will also likely move up a spot after a dominant victory against another top-10-ranked team in Michigan.
