The Appalachian State Mountaineers travel to Conway, South Carolina, to take on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in a Week 11 Sun Belt Conference clash on Thursday night.

Both teams enter this Week 11 bout with respective 4-4 records but are seemingly out of the race for the SBC championship.

The Mountaineers are coming off a 28-20 win over Old Dominion in their last time out, eyeing a third-straight win over the Chanticleers to take a step closer to bowl eligibility. App State has a 2-3 record in conference play, with an opportunity to get to (.500) in the Sun Belt.

The Chanticleers started their season off with a 4-1 record but have suffered losses in each of their last three contests. Coastal Carolina is looking to break their losing streak with a win on Thursday.

Appalachian State vs. Coastal Carolina: Game Summary

After receiving the opening kickoff, Coastal Carolina marched down the field on a seven-play, 68-yard drive to take a 7-0 lead. The Chanticleers forced a fumble on Appalachian State's first drive and capitalized with a second consecutive touchdown, taking a commanding 14-0 lead to end the first quarter.

Coastal Carolina forced a second-straight turnover and kicked a 29-yard field goal, extending their lead to 17-0 in the opening minutes of the second quarter. The Mountaineers mustered their first points of the game on the ensuing drive, cutting Coastal's lead to 17-3 with 10 minutes left in the first half.

Appalachian State forced a punt and took advantage with a 10-play, 77-yard touchdown drive to bring the score to 17-10 with three minutes remaining in the second quarter.

Coastal Carolina carried their strong first half performance into the second half, posting a 14-point quarter in the third with back-to-back touchdowns.

After forcing a punt to start the third period, the Chanticleers used a 17-play, 87-yard drive to take a 24-10 lead. Coastal Carolina grabbed an interception and scored another touchdown, extending their lead to 31-10.

Appalachian State responded with a touchdown drive of their own, marching 75 yards in 12 plays to cut the score to 31-17 in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter.

After forcing a turnover on downs, Coastal used favorable field possession to their advantage for another touchdown, taking a 38-17 lead with under three minutes remaining in the game.

The Mountaineers recorded a touchdown in garbage time to cut the lead to 38-24 with under two minutes remaining. The Chanticleers held on to secure a 38=24 win.
