College football insider RJ Young has commented on the swirling transfer rumors surrounding Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers, offering insights into Texas' future plans and potential landing spots for the star quarterback.

If Ewers opts to transfer, two powerhouse programs will likely lead the chase. The first is the Oregon Ducks, the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff. Oregon has a proven track record with transfer quarterbacks, including Dillon Gabriel, Bo Nix, and Anthony Brown, who have excelled over the past four seasons. Another team that could come calling? The North Carolina Tar Heels.

During this week’s episode of “The Number One College Football Show” on FOX Sports, Young shared his perspective on Arch Manning’s potential rise as Texas’ starting quarterback in 2025.

“I think we're entering a place where, if you have the money, you will overpay to have not one, not two, but three capable players at the quarterback position,” Young said. “Because we're seeing you're able to keep them, right? It's not become about playing time early; it comes out playing time later."
“But it also becomes about aging out and aging in. So, Arch Manning is aging in to being the starting quarterback in 2025 at Texas. I expect that to be the case.” [Timestamp - 4:55]

According to CFB analyst, Manning is set to step into the starting role in 2025, and Young fully expects that to happen.

Young emphasized that Manning’s skill set aligns well with the schemes Steve Sarkisian has implemented at Texas. Arch Manning can do more within Sarkisian’s system. Meanwhile, the coaching staff has to be cautious with Ewers because he’s not the same kind of athlete in open-field situations as Manning.

Arch Manning confirms commitment to Texas, unfazed by transfer portal buzz

Arch Manning is staying put with the Texas Longhorns, making it clear he has no intentions of exploring the transfer portal. Speaking to Bleacher Report, Manning dismissed the idea of a transfer.

"I mean, I really have no plans on entering the portal or anything," Manning said [H/t Bleacher Report]. "So I don't really know about it, about all the windows and everything. I'm probably the wrong guy to ask about it too.

With Manning and Ewers leading the charge, the Longhorns will have a key offensive weapon ready for their Peach Bowl showdown against the Arizona State Sun Devils.
