Arch Manning extends his lead in Heisman 2025 Trophy odds over DJ Lagway & John Mateer in early predictions

Even though the 2024 college football season is still marching on and bowl games continue through the College Football Playoff, fans are already jumping ahead to next season and what it can bring. With a lot of talent expected to make the jump into the NFL draft, the 2025 Heisman Trophy race could look interesting.

According to BetOnline, the 2025 Heisman Trophy race continues to extend his lead in the race as the odds still list Arch Manning as the favorite.

It is certainly intriguing as Manning has not been able to play much as he has sat behind Quinn Ewers for each of his first two seasons. He has played sporadically but also got some time starting while Ewers was dealing with a rib injury.

Manning has completed 61-of-90 (67.8%) of his passes for 939 yards with nine passing touchdowns to two interceptions as well as 24 rushing attempts for 100 yards (4.2 yards per carry) with four rushing touchdowns for the Texas Longhorns.

What will Arch Manning's role look like in the College Football Playoff this season?

Even though Arch Manning is the backup quarterback, Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian has made sure that he will be able to be on the field. In the first round of the College Football Playoff against the Clemson Tigers, Manning did not attempt any passes but had three rushing attempts without any yards.

There are injury concerns with Quinn Ewers so there may be a need for Arch Manning to be prepared to come into the game at a moment's notice. Manning was already asked to start for multiple games this regular season and has been able to step up when asked to.

Having two quality quarterbacks on the roster makes the opposing defense have the game plan for both Ewers and Manning, which means they are going to spread their preparation time even thinner worrying about the possibility of Arch Manning getting significant playing time.
