Arch Manning and the No. 3 Texas Longhorns fans have plenty to be thankful for this season. Their team posted a 17-7 win over Texas A&M to book a spot in the Southeastern Conference championship game. Cooper Manning, the father of Texas's backup quarterback, joined the Thanksgiving celebrations with a tribute to the Longhorns.
The first photo showed him enjoying dinner with family and friends, while the second captured a Longhorns player outrunning an Aggies defender. His caption read,
“Happy Thanksgiving and Hook ‘Em!”
While Cooper’s excitement was visible to everyone, Arch’s sister, May Manning, stole the show with her hilarious comment. She playfully called out the background of Cooper's photo, which featured a painting of the Manning family during their childhood.
The painting portrayed Manning, his wife Ellen Heidingsfelder and their three children, Arch, May and Heid Manning, from their childhood days.
“The painting in the back has got to go,” May wrote.
Arch will gear up for his first SEC Championship game as the Manning family dives into the holiday spirit. While he may start the game on the bench, Manning will be ready to step in whenever Texas coach Steve Sarkisian calls upon him.
Cooper Manning shares why Arch Manning is playing backup to Quinn Ewers
The Longhorns' teenage quarterback and nephew of NFL legends Peyton and Eli Manning played his backup role to Quinn Ewers to a T. His father shared the reason behind that and why Arch stayed despite huge transfer portal rumors.
"When Arch committed to Texas, they were coming off a 5-7 season, so I think a big part of why he liked Texas is because they had a great history, had a new coach coming, kind of a new program feel, and knew they had the potential to be great," Cooper said (on the "Golf’s Subpar" podcast in September).
Arch's patience and strategy are key. Cooper pointed out his son’s values and learnings before entering the spotlight. He said:
"Not having to come in there and be the guy, and go and learn and get better so when your number is called, you're ready to play and you perform well."
Arch Manning remains ready to seize his moment as Texas aims for greatness under Sarkisian.
