Former Florida State Seminoles running back Rodney Hill made the decision in December 2023 to enter the transfer portal. He would end up (after committing to a few schools) with the Arkansas Razorbacks, where Hill is preparing for the new season.

The reason why Hill decided to enter the transfer portal has been revealed. The RB told the media why during a press conference on Friday.

"Not many people know, but my parents were running my money and stuff like that. My parents got a bad agent, and he was texting other schools like he was me, so when that got back to the head coach, I had to leave Florida State."

Rodney Hill was with the Seminoles for two seasons. During that period, he played 16 games, ran for 334 yards, and scored two touchdowns, one in each season. He was also a part of the Seminoles' return team in 2023, where he had minimal success.

However, his time ended abruptly due to the revelation that his agent was contacting another school. This forced Hill to enter the transfer portal, where he first went to Florida A&M. He spoke about his reasoning for doing this during the press conference.

"During that time when I had to leave, I wasn’t trying to leave, I didn’t want to leave, so I just had to and the portal was closing up. Florida A&M was next door, so I just had to go there for a month, find a new place."

He didn't stay for long, re-entering the transfer portal as Florida A&M's coach left the program to go and be involved with the Duke Blue Devils. Hill then went to Miami, but again, did not stay long. He finally found a home in Arkansas, where he is hoping to spend the next two seasons.

Finally, Hill learnt a lesson from this and gave some advice to those players who may be considering having an agent.

"Sometimes, like with my parents, I know they were trying to do the best thing for me, but sometimes you've got to take that on your own and gotta do it yourself. But to other kids, I'd just say you don't have to get an agent right now. Just wait."

Can Rodney Hill help the Arkansas Razorbacks?

With his transfer to Arkansas, Rodney Hill joins an emerging running back room. The Razorbacks lost their star running back Rahiem Sanders to the South Carolina Gamecocks, and this has created a hole in the position's depth chart.

However, Hill is unlikely to fill this. The Razorbacks have brought in Ja’Quinden Jackson, who is likely to be the program's main running back in 2024.

Jackson is paired with Rashod Dubinion, who could both be key assets in this position for Arkansas.
