Ahead of the Heisman ceremony to be held in New York on Saturday, the Heisman-contending star spoke to "WFUV Sports" about dealing with the Heisman hype while chasing a national championship with the Broncos.

"It's what it comes with, when your team is having success," Ashton Jeanty said. "I'm not the only one on my team having individual success. It's about individuals who are making up the team, so none of these awards would be here unless we were having a successful season. So we've just been taking it day by day and keeping the main thing, the main thing."

Ashton Jeanty gets former heavyweight's backing

One of the four Heisman finalists, Oregon Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel who is priced at (+25,000) by FanDuel to win the trophy appeared on the "Dan Patrick Show" on Friday and surprisingly backed Ashton Jeanty to win it if he couldn't.

"I'm gonna get some heat for this one, but I'm going to say Ashton Jeanty, and I say that because me being at the Group of 5 once, knowing the challenges that come with that," Gabriel said. "

Of course I played against Ashton this year. I think he's a talented individual. His story is unique, and what he has been able to do is pretty impressive ... he's extremely worthy of it."

During an in-house interview with the Ravens channel, the last running back to win the Heisman Trophy in 2015 with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Derrick Henry backed Ashton Jeanty to win the award this year:

"I've got a special place for running backs in my heart, so hopefully, he (Jeanty) gets to win it. But him and Travis, they've both had a great year. They can go either way, and I feel like, [with] the close ones, it always happens that way; it can get either side. But they've definitely been balling out, and I'm ready to see them in the playoffs [to] see what he does.

"He's incredible, man. [He's] a player [who] is the whole gameplan. Defenses know what's going to happen, and they still can't stop it. [We haven't] seen [someone] like that for a long time. I know he's close to getting to the record. I hope he gets it."

According to BetMGM, Ashton Jeanty is currently the second favorite to win the Heisman Trophy (+1,500) behind Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter (-2,500).
