Peggy Coppom aka Miss Peggy is one of the oldest and most faithful Colorado Buffaloes fans. She is a native of Colorado and is not new to the freezing temperatures or the snow that comes with being a resident of the city. Yet, the 100-year-old superfan revealed that she had never skied.
In a hilarious exchange with Coach Prime's son and Buffaloes' safety Shilo Sanders, Miss Peggy revealed this surprising detail. When Shilo asked:
"Are you a snowboarder or a skier?"
"I'm a native Coloradan and I've never been on a pair of snow skis. I've water skied," Miss Peggy answered.
This caught many fans by surprise and they took to social media to react to the revelation.
"Well said! Mama," one fan commented.
"That's the most Coloradan answer, ever," another fan wrote.
"Shilo the perfect person to send to pick her up," a fan wrote.
"Awwww Ms. Peggy too adorable," another commented.
Here are some of the other reactions which hailed Miss Peggy.
"Ask Ms. Peggy can she do a split...," one fan wrote.
"Let's get a W for Ms Peggy! GoBuffs," an Instagram user wrote.
"Ms Peggy is the one," one user added.
Miss Peggy full of gratitude for Colorado for taking such care of her
On November 19, Peggy Coppom turned 100. However, she still misses her twin sister Betty, with whom she started attending Colorado games in 1940. According to University of Colorado records, both sisters have attended over 2,500 sporting events of the program.
While her sister died following a battle with pancreatic cancer in 2020, the Buffs have ensured that she hasn't felt the void. She spoke about how she was humbled by the way the program has recognised her in an interview with USA Today.
“It’s been unbelievable, all the attention,” Peggy said. “I feel very humble and very honored. I’m having a good time. The sad part is my sister is not here to do it with me, but everything’s going well. I’m in disbelief at all this attention. I feel so undeserving. I can’t believe I’ve been honored for just having a good time, just going to the games and everything.”
The Colorado Buffaloes traveled to San Antonio earlier this week and will take the field for the Alamo Bowl game against the BYU Cougars on Saturday. They'll have their biggest fan in attendance and she hopes that the team will end the season on a high note.
