Arizona State RB Cameron Skattebo played his final collegiate game during the Sun Devils' 39-31 loss to the Texas Longhorns in the 2025 Peach Bowl CFP quarterfinal game on Wednesday. Despite the loss, the running back was honored as the MVP of the game while recording 143 yards and two touchdowns rushing for 30 carries.

In the post-game press conference, Skattebo got emotional while talking about his journey with the Sun Devils. He initially began his collegiate journey with Sacramento State and played for them for two years before transferring last season.

The running back expressed his gratitude to his teammates and coaches for the experience he had with the program. He also stated that playing for ASU helped him develop his talents as a college football player.

"ASU's changed my life forever," Skattebo said. "In a good way, simple. They have supported me through everything. Put me in a position to be successfull. So I think that everybody in the ASU community, you know coach Dillingham and his staff, who's sitting next to me right here, they've changed by life forever."

Cam Skattebo played an important role in Arizona State's debut in the Big 12 this season. After a disappointing 3-9 campaign, they successfully redeemed themselves and took home the conference championship after defeating Iowa State to earn an automatic bye in the first round of the playoffs.

The Arizona State running back finished the season with a total of 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns rushing to his name. He was also named as one of the five finalists for the Heisman trophy this season.

Cam Skattebo believes he will have a long friendship with HC Kenny Dillingham and QB Sam Leavitt

The running back is preparing to make his transition to the professional game and declare for the 2025 NFL draft. Despite this, Skattebo believes that he will maintain a long-lasting bond with Kenny Dillingham and quarterback Sam Leavitt.

"Us three right here, This is just the beginning for us," Skattebo said. "No matter what, these guys will be in my life forever. So it's awesome that I was able to play football for and with them."

Cam Skattebo is not projected to be a first-round pick in the draft by experts. Nevertheless, he brings talent and experience to the table which NFL teams lacking in the rushing game could definitely use.

Furthermore, finishing as playoff quarterfinalists and winning the Big 12 title after a 3-9 season last year is an achievement worth celebrating for him and the rest of the Sun Devils team. On the other hand, Texas will now prepare for its upcoming Cotton Bowl Classic showdown against Ohio State next weekend.
