Lane Kiffin’s dog Juice is a celebrity in its own right. The yellow labrador has over the years become a fan favorite among Ole Miss supporters, gaining recognition throughout the college football community. In some quarters, it’s referred to as the Rebels’ unofficial mascot.
Juice isn’t just beloved on the Ole Miss campus; he’s a familiar face around the town of Oxford as well. He frequently joins local charity events, where he charms the townspeople and poses for photos, further endearing himself to the community beyond the university.
Lane Kiffin posted a picture of Juice on his Instagram page on Wednesday, garnering a lot of reactions. The yellow labrador was seen in the photo with an Ole Miss helmet in his front.
Madden San Miguel, popularly known as Baby Gronk, was one of the many people who reacted to the post. The internet sensation commented with a fire emoji.
Lane Kiffin talks Oklahoma’s unpredictability on offense
Oklahoma fired Seth Littrell as its offensive coordinator earlier this week following a significant struggle on the team's offense. He was replaced by Joe Jon Finley, who has been the team's tight end coach since the 2021 college football season.
During his media availability on Monday, Lane Kiffin shared that it's pretty difficult to predict what the Sooners' offense will come up with this weekend. Despite Finley working at Ole Miss before moving to Oklahoma, he had no history of calling plays with the Rebels.
“There’s no way to predict that,” Lane Kiffin said. “Usually they don’t change a whole lot when someone’s been there, and was the co-coordinator already. Even if there is, you can’t figure it out. There’s no magic formula to figure out what they’re thinking.”
“It’s not like Joe Jon was our coordinator here. He was the tight end coach. He’s never called plays. So, it’s not like there’s any film to go watch when he called plays.”
Lane Kiffin expects a similar offense with Oklahoma’s two quarterbacks
Oklahoma has played two quarterbacks this season, with both Jackson Arnold and Michael Hawkins Jr. getting reps. Despite a change in the offensive coordinator and a new quarterback coach on board, Lane Kiffin doesn't expect much difference irrespective of the quarterback.
“I don’t think they call a whole lot of different plays,” Kiffin said. “But in that wouldn’t matter. They’ve got a new playcaller, so I think both guys move around really well. Both are big-time talents and so we’ve got to make sure we take care of ourselves and play really well.”
Arnold has thrown for 763 yards and eight touchdowns with three interceptions this season. Hawkins, on the other hand, has thrown for 476 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions. It remains to be seen who gets the starting role against Ole Miss on Saturday.
