Big 12 still open to adding more schools
Although the Big 12 is now at 16 schools, the conference isn't ruling out adding even more schools in the realignment.
Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark said the conference isn't actively looking to add more schools but isn't ruling out the idea of expansion in the future.
"We explore every and all opportunity to create value for our members, for our student-athletes," Yormark said, via SI. "It's what we've been doing since I on-boarded and we'll continue to have that mindset. ...
"I've said from Day 1, we are open for business. I guess you could say that we are open for business now more than ever before."
Washington State and Oregon State remain the two most likely schools to change conference as they are the last two schools in the decimated Pac-12. Yormark said his goal is to make the Big 12 the top conference in all of college sports.
“We’ve solidified ourselves as one of the top three conferences in America,” he said, via Yahoo. "... I will not stop until we are the No. 1 conference in America."
The SEC is considered the premier conference in college football, but Yormark is confident he can the Big 12 the best, and the latest additions in college football realignment help its case.
