Junior quarterback Blake Horvath has been the starter for the Navy Midshipmen, but appears to be a bit banged up for today's game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Horvath has done well in a run-heavy offense as he has gone 46 of 72 (63.9%) for 888 yards with 10 touchdown passes to only one interception. He is also a force in the running game with 79 rushing attempts for 621 yards (7.9 yards per carry) with 10 rushing touchdowns.

Let's take a closer look at the injury Blake Horvath suffered and what it means for him going forward in this game.

Blake Horvath Injury Update

Quarterback Blake Horvath has been dealing with a thumb injury on his right hand that he sustained last week. The injury is not going to sideline him unless the pain ramps up even more.

What happened to Blake Horvath?

During the Week 8 game against the Charlotte 49ers, it appears that Blake Horvath sustained a thumb injury of some sort. It has not affected him too much statistically to begin the game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but is going to be more of a pain tolerance issue throughout this game.

Horvath had his thumb taped up ahead of the first offensive drive of the game against the Fighting Irish, as ABC's Molly McGrath reported for the game broadcast.

"I'm told Blake Horvath suffered an injury to his right thumb in last week's game. Brian Newberry told me Horvath is pretty banged up. He'll be playing through a decent amount of pain today. His right thumb and hand is taped. Their athletic training staff will be paying extra attention to this injury. He keeps flexing and opening and closing that hand. It seems to be bothering him." h/t On3

When will Blake Horvath return?

This right thumb injury did not knock Blake Horvath out of the game. Instead, the injury is just something that he is going to have to play through. Horvath has shown the ability to toughen it up and lead the Midshipmen. So, we will keep an eye on his pain tolerance.
