The No. 4 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes (5-1) are playing the Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-2) on Saturday. It has been a tight game that has kept fans engaged, but not always in the best ways.
The referees have been a source of frustration for Nebraska fans. Notably, when a spot for a first down did not go in the Cornhuskers' favor, it led to several fans calling out the refs.
Complaining about referees is not an uncommon thing for fans to do, but in some games the reaction becomes extreme. Today, Nebraska fans have felt like they are battling against Ohio State and the referees.
"This is past attrocious reffing. This is blantant cheating against Nebraska by the BIG!!!!!!," one fan wrote.
"JFC these guys. Welcome to the ref show," one fan commented.
"WHAT KIND OF SPOT IS THAT," one fan added.
Other fans showed frustration by talking about how this is not the first time they felt that Nebraska has had its games affected by poor refereeing this season.
"I'm trying to figure out how it is so common for the Big Ten to officiate Nebraska games in favor of the opponent...," one fan wrote.
"Welcome to being a Nebraska fan for the last 20 years... and that's not an exaggeration," one fan commented.
"They're still mad about 2020, we will never be allowed to get a big win in this conference again," one fan added.
Nebraska tries to pull off a big upset over Ohio State
The game between Nebraska and Ohio State has been tight throughout. Despite entering the game as +1600 underdogs, the Cornhusker have put up a good fight through the first half of the game.
At halftime, the Buckeyes had a 14-6 lead, but the Cornhuskers answered back with a field goal to bring the deficit to five points early in the third quarter.
If Nebraska can come back and pull off an upset, it would likely result in the Cornhuskers reentering the AP Top 25 rankings. Conversely, if the Buckeyes get upset by Nebraska, it will not be good for their ranking.
Ohio State has already fallen a few spots since losing to Oregon a few weeks ago, so any more losses will hurt their ranking even further.
It is an essential game for Ohio State to pick up if it wants to compete for the Big Ten title.
