Quarterback Brady Cook joined the Missouri Tigers back in 2020. He was named as the team's starting quarterback during the 2022 season. In the past three campaigns, Cook led Missouri to two consecutive bowl games.
Brady Cook was named as the starting quarterback this season as well. However, the quarterback injured himself during Missouri's Week 8 victory over the Auburn Tigers.
Brady Cook's injury update
According to the Missouri Tigers' injury report, the quarterback is listed as 'doubtful' ahead of their road game against Alabama at the Bryant-Denny Stadium. During the team's Tuesday press conference, head coach Eli Drinkwitz had a rather cryptic response to Cook's availability for practice and their game in week 9.
"I don't know if I'd say participate," Eli Drinkwitz stated. "I anticipate that he will be out at practice but that's why I'm not letting the media at practice so that y'all can't worry about what he's doing or not doing at practice."
So far in seven games, Brady Cook helped the Missouri Tigers to a 6-1 record. He also tallied a total of 1,545 passing yards and seven passing touchdowns while throwing just one interception.
Last season, Cook and the Tigers recorded an 11-2 overall campaign. He put up a total of 3,317 passing yards and 21 TD passes, along with eight touchdowns for 319 rushing yards. The Tigers also won the Cotton Bowl Classic after defeating the Ohio State Buckeyes.
What happened to Brady Cook?
During Missouri's game against Auburn, Cook went down with an injury to his ankle in the first quarter. He was then taken out of the game and rushed to the hospital for an MRI scan.
Despite the injury, the quarterback returned to the game by the end of the third quarter. Missouri was trailing by 11 points (6-17) with just one quarter left to play.
However, Cook brought the Tigers back to life and helped them secure a 21-17 comeback victory. He finished the night completing 11-of-22 passes along with 194 passing yards and a 50% pass completion rate.
If Cook is not fit enough for Missouri's showdown against Alabama, then they may have to turn to backup Drew Pyne to shoulder the responsibilities of the offense. Pyne began his collegiate career with Notre Dame in 2020. After three seasons with them, he played for Arizona State last season before transferring to Missouri this offseason.
