Dakorien Moore has decided to hit the recruitment market once again. The five-star wide receiver, who initially committed to LSU on Aug. 12, was the second-highest-ranked commitment in LSU's 2025 class. He is just behind five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood from Belleville, Michigan.
Ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect and the top wide receiver in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, Moore is also recognized as the No. 1 player in Texas. His commitment was a significant win for LSU, bolstering an already impressive recruiting class.
However, Moore announced via X/Twitter that he will decommit from head coach Brian Kelly's LSU squad to reopen his recruitment:
"I want to express my sincere gratitude to Coach Kelly and the entire LSU community for their tremendous support of my family and me," Moore wrote." I am incredibly blessed and deeply appreciative of the opportunity the coaching staff has given me to play football at the collegiate level.
"After careful and extensive consideration, my family and I have decided that it is in my best interest to decommit from LSU."
Moore’s announcement leaves a notable gap in LSU’s recruiting class, which remains strong despite his departure. LSU’s 2025 recruiting class is ranked No. 2 nationally and No. 1 in the SEC. This class still boasts several top commitments, including Harlem Berry, Devin Harper, Tyler Miller, and Jaboree Antoine.
What are the potential next destinations for Dakorien Moore?
Moore had initially declared LSU his dream school. But he told On3’s Chad Simmons in April that he would be considering offers from other prominent programs, including the Texas Longhorns, Oregon Ducks and Ohio State Buckeyes.
When questioned about the factors that could sway his decision away from LSU, Moore revealed his desire to carefully evaluate all options:
“I really can’t put it into words. I’m really just seeing what everybody else has got to offer. Of course what LSU showed me got me to commit, so that’s where I’m at, but I’m really just seeing the little things piece by piece, seeing what everybody else has got to show me," Moore said.
Notably, Moore has official visits booked for Ohio State on May 31, Texas on June 14 and Oregon on June 21.
According to senior national recruiting analyst Gerry Hamilton, Moore is not visiting the Oregon Ducks this weekend. Meanwhile, the projection for his future now leans heavily towards Texas, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).
Moore turned heads in his sophomore year by catching 44 passes for 767 yards and seven touchdowns. He also boasts exceptional speed, evident in his impressive track record, where he recorded a wind-aided 10.63 mark in the 100 meters as a sophomore.
