Fans have reacted to Bill Belichick's comments about his UNC commitment amid links with the Raiders. The North Carolina Tar Heels hired the former New England Patriots HC for the upcoming season. However, the rumor mill has been churning about how he might be lured back to coaching in the NFL.

Belichick had clarified his commitment to UNC during his introductory press conference last month.

"I've always wanted to coach in college football and it just never really worked out," Belichick said. "Had some good years in the NFL, so that was OK. ... I didn't come here to leave."

However, fans sounded sceptical about Belichick's commitment to the Tar Heels. One pointed out that the UNC coach is past his prime to be making such decisions as a coach.

Another said that Belichick shouldn't think about returning to the NFL, as they didn't seek him out when he searched for a job last year.

"He should pass! No one bothered to give him a job last year the hell with nfl. ... besides he looks really happy in college."

CFP insider Bruce Feldman believes Bill Belichick might leave UNC to return to the NFL

Fox Sports and The Athletic's Bruce Feldman, on the Rich Eisen show on Wednesday, talked about Bill Belichick potentially returning to the NFL to reunite with Tom Brady at the Raiders.

Feldman listed down a couple of factors that could play a crucial role in changing Belichick's mind. He also pointed out the structure of his contract and how it's not "prohibitive" to stop him from returning to the NFL even without spending one season with the Tar Heels.

"The way this contract was set up, you know, for a year from now, it was gonna be a $1 million buyout which is not prohibitive at all," Feldman said. "But you're sitting there and going, 'OK, but if he waits another year, he's gonna be 74 before the next NFL season.'
"I think Bill Belichick will have success in the ACC....I think after about a year of this or two years of this, he will be so disgusted by what it takes to be a college football head coach that he'll be like, 'I don't need this.' (2:00 onwards)

The Tar Heels finished with a 6-7 record this season and competed with the UConn Huskies in the Fenway Bowl. But the program fired former coach Mack Brown before the Bowl game.

Interim HC Freddie Kitchen failed to lead UNC to victory against the Huskies in the Fenway Bowl. Fans will expect Bill Belichick to use his NFL experience and success to help change the program's fortunes next season.
