Fresno State took on Northern Illinois in the Idaho Potato Bowl on Monday. The Bulldogs and the Huskies were looking to end the season on a high note as they gained rare national attention in the bowl game.

It was a thrilling contest between the two participants on the blue turf of the Albertsons Stadium in Boise Idaho. However, what caught the attention of many was the typographical error made by the broadcast production team for the game with the television score box.

Fresno State got a different name in the ESPN broadcast of the encounter. The program was referred to as “Bulldongs” rather than Bulldogs on the score box graphics. The production team's dreadful typo error immediately caught the attention of viewers around the country, generating a lot of reactions online.

As expected, a couple of fans cracked some jokes about this online:

"Someone’s getting the shaft at the next production meeting," one fan said.
"I hope that their D isn’t soft…" said another.

Other fans shared their reactions to the typographical error:

"Guessing ESPN doesn't have their A team on duty today?" a fan wrote.
"You aren’t in the SEC so they don’t care," another fan wrote.
"They must have all the interns working on these bowl games today," another fan wrote.

A disappointing loss for Fresno State 'Bulldongs' in the Idaho Potato Bowl

Fresno State entered the Idaho Potato Bowl on Monday with the aim to secure a win. However, it ended in a disappointing 28-20 loss to Northern Illinois in double overtime.

Fresno State took the field on Monday without several key players. This includes quarterback Mikey Keene, who announced shortly before kickoff that he would be transferring to Michigan State for the 2025 college football season.

Interim coach Tim Skipper, who took over after Jeff Tedford stepped down for health reasons, communicated his intention to win ahead of the game. He was fired up to end his brief tenure in charge of the program on a high note, but it wasn't to be.

As he bows out, he will be succeeded in 2025 by Matt Entz, the former head coach at North Dakota State University.

It marked another notable win for Northern Illinois, which has had a season to remember. The highlight of the year was the Week 2 upset against Notre Dame in South Bend, the biggest win in the history of the program.
