The No. 23 Colorado Buffaloes under coach Deion Sanders were blown out 36-14 by the No. 17 BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl on Saturday to finish the season 9-4. The game was beyond the reach of the Buffs by halftime, trailing 20-0 despite the presence of their NFL-bound stars, quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Heisman Trophy-winner Travis Hunter.

There was a controversial moment in the game during the fourth quarter, when not for the first time this season, BYU linebacker Isaiah Glasker intercepted Shedeur and proceeded to hit Coach Prime's famous celebration in front of the Colorado players.

During his postgame news conference, Glasker revealed just how confident the BYU Cougars players were going into the contest.

“I feel like going into this game, especially seeing Travis Hunter and Shedeur and these great players on Colorado, I feel like nobody on our team was nervous,” Glasker said. “We just was ready to play.”

Deion Sanders compliments BYU despite Glasker's celly

Despite the heavy loss to the BYU Cougars and Isaiah Glasker's mocking celebration, Deion Sanders was complimentary of coach Kalani Sitake and the phenomenal game that his team had played to limit Colorado Buffaloes star players, the NFL-bound Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.

“They played a heck of a football game and I’m proud,” Sanders said. “If I’m going to get my butt kicked, I’d rather get my butt kicked by (Kalani Sitake). I love him for life. He’s a good man. Wonderful job, wonderful job by BYU. They’re well-coached.
“They did a phenomenal job running the football. Their special teams kicked our butts. We couldn’t do (much) offensively at all."

Sanders' praise for Sitake follows from the charismatic Buffs coach praising the BYU coach during his weekly news conferences when the matchup between the teams for the Alamo Bowl was announced on Dec. 8.

“Playing against a wonderful, storied university in BYU is unbelievable,” Sanders said. “You talk about leadership in (Kalani Sitake) ... don’t get it twisted, he’s a darn good football coach, he’s a leader of men and a God-fearing man. So to see him, to watch him, to get the opportunity to meet him at the Big 12 meetings and now being able to compete against him is unbelievable.
“(Kalani) is awesome. Amazing. Let me tell you something, man. At the Big 12 meetings, just sitting beside him, he was so welcoming, he was so kind, and he’s a big fella too, so he’s intimidating, you know. But he was just one of the best dudes ever."

Conversely, Kalani Sitake has also been complimentary of Deion Sanders during his weekly news conferences. The pair shared a hug and an animated conversation on the field after the Alamo Bowl game.
