The Alamo Bowl might have had the most exciting non-College Football Playoff battle in college football. But the battle was not even, as BYU dominated in all three phases of the game in posting a 36-14 thumping of Colorado.

In the first half, a short LJ Martin touchdown run, a pair of long field goals from Will Ferrin and a punt return score from Parker Kingston gave the Cougars the early advantage with a 20-0 lead.

Shedeur Sanders did pick up a pair of touchdown passes in the second half, but BYU dominated the game. LJ Martin rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

BYU (11-2, 7-2 in Big 12) spent much of the season on top of the Big 12, but ended up in a four-way tie for the league crown with Colorado, Arizona State, and Iowa State. Arizona State and Iowa State played for the league crown, with ASU winning the CFP invite.

Colorado (9-4, 7-2 in Big 12) could still play BYU in this game because the two didn't play in the regular season. The Buffs overcame an early non-conference loss to Nebraska to join in the logjam atop the league. It was the final college game for Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, who connected for a third-quarter touchdown pass.
