BYU vs SMU injury report: List of players injured ahead of Week 2 showdown

The BYU Cougars are on the road to play the SMU Mustangs in Week 2. The game is set for Friday, September 6, at 7 p.m. ET with SMU as an 11.5-point favorite.

Heading into Week 2, both teams are dealing with injuries from Week 1 and training camp. In SMU's case, this will be their third game of the college football season as they also played in Week 0.

BYU Cougars offensive lineman Joe Brown is out for the entire 2024 season with a knee injury.

Brown tore his ACL before fall camp and was projected to be a backup guard option for the Cougars.

SMU Mustangs injury report

Jaylan Knighton, RB

SMU Mustangs running back Jaylan Knighton is questionable to play in Week 2 with an undisclosed injury.

Knighton played in SMU's Week 0 win over Nevada where he rushed for eight yards on four carries and added two receptions for 28 yards. However, he missed SMU's Week 1 win over HCU.

Braeden Flowers, DE

SMU defensive end Braeden Flowers is questionable to play in Week 2 with a knee injury.

Flowers is a freshman and has yet to see action in SMU's first two games of the season.

Mike Lockhart, DT

SMU defensive tackle Mike Lockhart is questionable to play in Week 2 with an undisclosed injury.

Lockhart is a senior who is entering his seventh year of college football. He started at Georgia Tech and after three years he transferred to West Virginia. After two years at West Virginia, he transferred to SMU.

In 2024, Lockhart has recorded one tackle.

Camar Wheaton, RB

Camar Wheaton is out for the 2024 season with a knee injury.

Wheaton suffered his injury in a non-contact drill during the second day of fall camp.
