Deion Sanders Jr. has revealed a conversation his father had with Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy after the final game of the Buffs' regular season. He also used the opportunity to lambast those coaches who consistently skip playing their best players in the postseason encounters.

Deion Sanders Jr. appeared on Monday's episode of the "Zero 2 Sixty" podcast. At one point, he opened up about a conversation between Gundy and Coach Prime after their game in late November:

"My dad after the Oklahoma State game, he shook their head coach's hand and he (Mike Gundy) said, 'Hey man, I appreciate you having those boys playing the bowl game.'
"Like that's how it's supposed to be. That's how football was. Things have changed in the last few years but that's how we grew up. That's what was supposed to happen, you were supposed to play in the bowl game. The season wasn't over until the last game was over with."

He went on to state that back in the day, even top-five first-round picks would show up for a bowl game, but now even sixth — or seventh-rounders are skipping postseason action. One of the show's hosts even said bowl games used to have a "sacred" feeling to them, which they no longer do.

Mike Gundy's alleged comment to Deion Sanders is probably related to the announcement that Coach Prime had made shortly before the end of the regular season. He had announced that Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter and other Buffaloes stars are more likely than not playing in the postseason.

When does Deion Sanders' Colorado play next?

No. 23 Colorado will play its first postseason encounter since 2020 this bowl season. Their opponent are the No. 17 BYU Cougars, and the Alamo Bowl will be played on Dec. 28.

If they win the encounter, it will be the school's first postseason victory since 2004. At the moment, they're three-point underdogs according to the bookies, but ESPN's game predictor does favor them. According to it, they have a 58.7% chance of winning the game.

The contest will be played at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, at 7:30 p.m. and it will air on ABC.
