Cam Skattebo laughs off "narcissistic" accusations with cheeky comment after ASU's heartbreaking loss 

Cam Skattebo was a key part of the fourth-quarter resurgence by the Arizona State Sun Devils in the Peach Bowl. ASU would end up losing the game 39-31 to the Texas Longhorns, but for a minute it looked like the Sun Devils would be able to pull the upset. Largely thanks to him.

Skattebo threw a 42-yard touchdown pass, ran for 143 yards scored two rushing touchdowns and had 99 receiving yards for the Sun Devils during the Peach Bowl, while also participating in all of Arizona State's key plays for the encounter.

His 42-yard touchdown pass trick play, 62-yard touchdown pass catch and a two-yard rushing touchdown (with the help of an offensive lineman) all came during the fourth quarter of the game. Despite this impressive and timely performance, some college football fans have been calling out the running back for his alleged "narcissistic attitude".

One fan on X/Twitter said:

"@camskattebo5 humble yourself young man or your narcissistic attitude WILL BE your misfortune! Don't get ahead of yourself!"

To which Cam Skattebo simply replied:

"Twitter is on a roll today yall."

Cam Skattebo's postmatch reaction to heartbreaking loss

Skattebo had a simple yet powerful message in the immediate aftermath of the disappointing loss to the Longhorns:

“We gave everything we had,” Skattebo said. “We never stopped.”

In the end, the Longhorns managed to pull together, equaling the Sun Devils in the first overtime when Quinn Ewers managed to get a 28-yard touchdown to Matthew Golden when they were at 4th and 13.

In the following drive, Texas scored in the first play and also managed to get a two-point conversion. Facing a difficult task ahead of him, pressure got to ASU's signal caller Sam Leavitt who was intercepted in the last drive of the game.
